“Leave him alone.”
After a day trip, the two women found themselves in a heaving bar playing too-loud pop music. Since they’d arrived, the music had become louder and the number of patrons had increased, all appearing hell-bent on a night of debauched fun.
Natasha’s countenance, as stern as her tone, was wasted on her friend Bella, unable to take her eyes off a particular man. Using his height to hold court among a group, he appeared to be enjoying the attention he commanded.
“Why?” Bella asked, her unabashed gaze unwavering. “He’s irresistible.”
At first glance, it was difficult to imagine the two women as friends—everything about them appeared to clash in both looks and personality. Natasha’s severe look came from her slender frame and waist-length platinum blonde hair that framed her face like heavy curtains. Only her light tan and bright eyes—an unusual colour, paler than hazel—prevented her striking appearance from transforming into ice-queen.
Far less ethereal, Bella’s luscious hourglass figure was crowned with a generous mane of wavy black hair. Carefully applied makeup, tight black mini-dress and black stilettos with heels like daggers gave her the look of a soul diva about to take to the stage. She commanded attention without trying, lusted after by both men and women.
“Calm yourself,” Natasha ordered, her voice hoarse from the shot she’d downed—the only effect it had. “It’s pointless—you can’t have him.”
Finally, Bella returned her gaze to her companion, her dark eyes flashing with defiant mischief. “Yes, I can. Sort of.”
The sweet effect of a gentle smile was lost by the action of her tongue, the tip poking from between her red-slicked lips in a slow and deliberate caress.
Exasperated, Natasha rolled her eyes before turning around, twice banging her empty glass on the bar to get the barman’s attention. “Don’t get into trouble.”
Interrupted by the barman’s return, the pause allowed Bella to offer reassurance. “You won’t have to rescue me. I don’t get into trouble.”
In her early thirties and a born and bred Londoner, Shermaine Williams has loved reading since she was a child. She began writing relatively recently after becoming bored with the career that came after finishing university.
She writes contemporary erotic romance, telling tales of characters that she hopes people can see themselves in. She gets inspiration from the most unassuming acts that people all around her don't realise they are performing. Stories with a twist always get her attention.
In addition to fiction, she also writes other pieces that are positively mundane by comparison.
