Despite the talk-on-the-sofa tone of the entire novel, the suspense originating from the accident at the Grimaldi line adds spice to a sweet love story of a man who grew up disillusioned with love and a woman who finally allows herself to grow up. Jason's job as her bodyguard suddenly becomes necessary when her life comes under scrutiny and is exposed to danger after an incident that costs lives. Such is the stuff of a good gossip hour with friends, right? I've come to expect as much from Donna Gallagher's work, and will look forward to more of the same good feeling with whatever she releases after An Opportunity Seized. A romantic mystery with a touch of suspense. This is a romantic mystery, heavy on the sexual elements. It worked for me because there was enough of the mystery plot to offset some of the romance.
