The story weaves to tell Jamie and Tanaka’s story is absolutely wonderful. The villainous Davenport’s character was so vividly written that I wanted to reach into the story and take him out myself. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this book even though it was a historical. This is due to the talent this author has in spinning a story and his characters. As with the previous two books, the adventure, danger and excitement flows in this book. The characters are brilliantly written and the storylines, fighting scenes, the loss of lives, the anger, sadness, love and lust, the descriptions of land and such were so vividly written, you can actually visualize the scenery. This book is extremely well written but that’s what I’ve always experienced when reading this author’s work. The words practically leaps off the page and wraps itself around you. You immerse yourself in his stories and that’s a great experience for a reader to have when reading a book. I definitely recommend this trilogy.
