This author is constantly releases great books. His characters, plots, storylines and dialogues are always top quality. I’m a big fan of his paranormal works; his vampire characters are THE BEST in this genre so it’s not surprising that his contemporaries are written with the same level of excellence.
Riley is a sweet and gentle soul, he’s currently in recovery after ending a bad relationship. It looks like he’s getting through it. He’s got his dog, his work and friend. You get the sense that he’s content, in a good place right now. I didn’t get the sense that he was looking for love or lonely. His furry companion stumbles across Joe wounded and left for dead. Riley is immediately enamored with the handsome detective.
Joe’s character is this interesting juxtaposition of rough/tumble, gentle/shy. He’s this strong, tough and fierce cop yet he’s vulnerable and really quite sweet. He’s not as confident as one would think he is but I put that down to him suffering the lingering effects of an abusive childhood at the hands of his father.
The flow of this book is absolutely fabulous. This author’s writing style is smooth and well modulated. There are no plot holes or lagging parts in this book. His work is consistent in its quality. And I loved the cover. Everything about this book was excellent. This is a definite must read.

I really thought this book was well written, the characters are well matched for each other. I loved that both are dog lovers and how the dogs are such an important part of their lives. I did think the relationship progressed too quickly, but given each man’s past, I didn’t mind that at all…it worked. There was less mystery than I was expecting, the focused more on the recovery of Joe and the building of this new couple. All in all, this is a short, sexy and interesting read.
