Ok, I seriously loved this book. I kept thinking that it seemed like it was written just for me (it doesn’t help that I’m a sucker for characters named Kit). I’m really choosy about my fantasy, and this one has definitely joined my roster. The story is major hurt/comfort, so if that’s one of your favourite tropes, this is the book for you. It’s very sweet and gentle, but with a good helping of action and suspense. The world building is excellent and really drew me in. I especially loved the magic-canceling brands! There were also really original magical abilities, not just the typical ones. There’s also a mystery element to the story, and it’s drawn out just enough to keep your interest without getting frustrating while you wait to have your questions answered. Did I mention that this book is SUPER steamy? Like sizzling? Yeah. I loved getting to know Kit and Harry so much, and I hope you will too.

Being new to this genre, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, it didn’t take me long to put my concerns aside as I quickly became drawn into this story of war and magic. One of my favorite genres is WWII stories and I found the conflict of Rascara and the Empire to my liking, with Harry, the war-torn doctor becoming my favorite character. I found it easy to attach to the characters in this book, and Kit, the young mysterious character, who couldn’t resist him? I thought this story had a nice balance between the erotic scenes and the fantasy, which I was just as much drawn into. Magic, war, love and healing. This was a story that I couldn’t put down until I finished it.
