Unlike many people, I never had a dream of being a commoner marrying a royal. My view of royalty was colored by the Boston Tea Party and I’ve never been interested in them. However, Rogue Royal by Megan Slayer was a fun take on this trope. I especially enjoyed that Nathan, as the US nonroyal, had a child. Charlie was a 21st century royal, being unconcerned with overly strict protocol and being an out gay man. The country of Lysianna is typically European and will seem familiar to readers of fairy tales. What made the story stand out for me were a couple of twists that I did not see coming. They help elevate the story into something I would read a second time. I received a copy of Rogue Royal by Megan Slayer from Pride Publishing and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
