Overall – 5 Performance – 5 Story – 5 I loved the audiobook. Companion Required is the first book I’ve read by Brian Lancaster & I loved it. It’s the second book I’ve listened to Richard Reynolds perform and I think he did a fantastic job. I’m sure I would have enjoyed the story if I read it with my eyes but I’m also sure that Richard’s performance greatly enhanced my enjoyment of it. This is a great bi-awakening/grumpy/sunshine/fake boyfriend/holiday romance. The blurb is good so I’m not going to regurgitate it. I only want to add that Kieran is a wonderful character while Kennedy starts out as not so wonderful. We learn the reasons why Kennedy is the way he is (stuffy and grumpy) and of course, I ended up loving him. I am very happy that I listened to this story. I will look for more from this author and this audio performer. A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Normally, I am criticizing every aspect of an audiobook, from the tone to the alterations of voices, specifically if it’s a new narrator. I was pleasantly surprised with how well Mr. Reynolds presented himself with this book. Not to mention, the accent melted my insides 🫠. He nailed the atmosphere, the energy put off by the characters, but most importantly, their differences in dialogue! Now, the storyline. An interesting plot, I mean, how often does a MC just happen to get hired to play the role of a doting boyfriend, but the character is straight?!? Their relationship was enjoyable, though, never forced but completely organic in terms of their development of feelings. And, since I’m a smut queen, audio smut is definitely the way to go! There was passion, lust, desire that gradually morphed into love. To summarize, I enjoyed this audio, but would have liked to see a little more fight on Kennedy’s behalf to winning Kieran back. Besides that, excellent performance and storyline!!
